EXTRAORDINARY ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Winner: Karin Duncan
Duncan was instrumental in accomplishing a recent revised memorandum of understanding with the United States Forces Japan regarding funding for Japanese residents working at the Exchange through an indirect hiring agreement. The original memorandum of understanding included an aggressive approach to reduce indirect hire agreement positions, which could have resulted in negative implications to our service level and financial operations.
Signing this new agreement represents bottom-line savings of $43 million and $70 million during the next 15 years when compared to the old memorandum signed in 2012.
LOSS PREVENTION AND SAFETY

GLOBAL CONNECTIONS: EEO, DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION AWARD
The award recognizes the exchange that best exhibits support of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Thirty-eight exchanges communicated how they have unlocked the potential of a diverse workforce.

SUSTAINABILITY AWARD
The award honors the exchange that demonstrated superior sustainability and conservation performance. From the first time the award was given in 2010, winners have shown exemplary efforts in reducing water and energy consumption; working closely with their local communities to promote energy-saving ideas; recycling and tree-planting events.
Winner: JB Lewis-McChord
JB Lewis-McChord put more than $70,000 on its bottom line due to outstanding recycling efforts, including associate training in conjunction with the installation’s recycling outreach coordinator. The Exchange partnered with the installation for Earth Day, Ride sharing, biking events, and a rebate program for using energy-efficient light bulbs.
SERVICES CUP
The Services, Food and Fuel Directorate recognizes all Exchanges for their efforts to improve earnings and elevate customer experiences through services and vending initiatives. The winners of the 2016 Services Cups represent the best exchanges in each size category and will each receive $500 team award.

- Innovative marketing
- Concessionaire engagement
