Winner of the 2017 Exchange Safety Motto Contest

Alfreda Smith, center, receives her award from Loss Prevention Manager Vanessa Reed and Operations Manager Barbara Copeland for coming up with the best safety slogan.

Alfreda Smith, a receiver at Fort Huachuca, Ariz., came up with such a zinger of a safety slogan that the Loss Prevention Directorate has named her the winner of its 2017 Exchange Safety Motto Contest.

LP managers picked Smith’s motto, “Bee in Control, Safety is Our Goal,”  from nearly 1,200 responses from associates around the world to signify the Exchange’s devotion to workplace safety.

Smith received a $100 Exchange gift card, certificates and a coin from the Loss Prevention Vice President Eric Stewart.

This year’s runners-up include:

  • Christopher Dunning, RAF Lakenheath, U.K., “Safety is the Key to BEE Accident Free”
  • Brenda Kalbert, Tinker AFB, Okla., “Don’t Bee Careless, Think Safety Awareness!”
  • Anita Wicks, Columbus AFB, Miss., “Do Your Part, BEE Safety Smart!”
  • Manuela Willis, Fort Lee, Va., “At Work, At Home – Let Safety Bee Known!”

The runners-up received $50 Exchange gift cards, safety certificates and Stewart’s coins.

Keeping safety at the forefront of our daily operations will ensure we provide a safe and healthy environment for all our associates and customers.
 – George Shaffer, the Exchange’s health & safety manager
