Veteran for Life:
Corliss Boettcher

U.S. Navy
1992- Present
Logistics Specialist – Supply

My mission as a military member is to provide a service to this country. To make that happen I need much of what the Exchange provides. I find it rewarding each day to represent our military customer in my daily decisions and strategies with the Exchange.

In September 1988, I began my AAFES career at the Burger King as a military spouse in Kitzingen, Germany. Upon our PCS to Fort Campbell, Ky., I was rehired by AAFES, where I served as a retail sales associate.

I joined the Navy Reserve as a third-class petty officer in Nashville, Tenn., in February 1992. The Navy translated my retail experience from AAFES into a Navy supply occupation.

Due to the increased volume of background investigations for military personnel from the onset of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, I was activated on military orders from June 2001–March 2002.  AAFES supported my military obligation, and allowed me time off to support the military in this important role.

We moved to Dallas and affiliated with AAFES headquarters and the military at the NAS Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base. In 2006, I received deployment orders to support Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan for one year.

Again, AAFES supported me, and my husband (he works security for AAFES) and our family.

I continue to serve the Navy after 25 years, responsible for three units.  I have been with AAFES 29 years.
