Fitness and nutrition go hand-in-hand in achieving the BE FIT lifestyle, just like Sgt. Maj. Edward Bell and his wife, Lisa, real-life examples of healthy living for military families.

The Bells are the Exchange’s BE FIT program’s first spokescouple, dispensing tips on nutrition, commissary shopping, and exercise appearing via videos on Exchange social media, TVs in the BE FIT section at Exchange stores, on ShopMyExchange.com/be-fit and and articles in weekly sales flyers.

The Exchange’s BE FIT spokescouple, SGM Edward Bell and wife Lisa, split a protein shake.

‘Ready, physically fit, mentally focused’

The Bells, who have been married for 30 years and have four grown sons, know a thing or two about living BE FIT. Bell has served in the Army for 31 years, deploying seven times, and is assigned to the Pentagon. Lisa Bell works as an instructor at the Fort McNair fitness center in Virginia.

“We have to always be ready, physically fit, mentally focused and be a part of the team,” SGM Bell said. “That’s why health, wellness and being resilient are so important today as military members. “It’s all about taking care of people and empowering people to be healthy.

Making healthier choices

The Exchange’s BE FIT program encourages Soldiers, Airmen and their families to make healthier choices to remain ready and resilient. In fact, a major strategic priority for 2018 is “Intensify a holistic BE FIT program.” The focus on better-for-you options and BE FIT further cements the Exchange’s partnership with the Healthy Army Community and Air Force Smart Fueling

The Exchange provides name-brand exercise equipment and workout gear at the main stores and offering better-for-you choices at Expresses and restaurants for Soldiers, Airmen and their families wanting to make healthy lifestyles a priority.
