For dedicated and transformative support of America’s Reserve Components, Exchange Director/CEO Tom Shull was  inducted into the Reserve Officer Association’s Minuteman Hall of Fame on Sept. 29 during the group’s annual convention in Omaha, Neb.

ROA is the only national organization solely dedicated to advocating for all Reservists and supporting their role in our Nation’s national defense. The Minuteman Hall of Fame award, among the highest honor from ROA, recognizes those who contribute to the advancement of ROA programs and objectives.

“This a tremendous honor, one that’s shared with the entire Exchange team worldwide,” Shull said. “Everyone who wears our Nation’s uniform deserves our respect and support. Strengthening benefits represents the ultimate test of our Nation’s character and commitment to take care of those who take care of us.”

‘Passion in supporting our citizen-warriors’

Shull earned this year’s award for the Exchange’s sustained support of American’s citizen-warriors, including serving Guard and Reserve with mobile field Exchanges—53-foot-long trailers stocked with supplies, hygiene items, cold drinks and tastes of home during deployments in austere locations and premiere training exercises here at home.

“It is truly a privilege to honor Tom for his passion in supporting our citizen-warriors,” said ROA President Donald Stockton, a retired Air Force Reserve lieutenant colonel. “Tom and the Exchange team have been all in for us. No matter where the Reserve goes, we can count on the Exchange to be there with great support.”

The Exchange supported the Texas National Guard at Bastrop, Texas, after Hurricane Harvey in 2017.

‘Time . . . to go all in’

The Exchange also supported disaster relief efforts after 2017’s devastating hurricane season; helped broker a change to allow Army National Guard and Reserve service members to buy uniforms at the Exchange online; and brought tax-free online shopping at ShopMyExchange.com to all honorably discharged Veterans.

“After 15 years at war, now is the time to go all in for those who so bravely sacrifice for our country,” Shull said. “The price paid by those who came before us is too high to do anything less.”

Previous Minuteman Hall of Fame recipients include Presidents Truman and Kennedy, Gen. Omar N. Bradley, Gen. Creighton Abrams and Bob Hope.
