The Exchange partnered with Air Force Entertainment Live Stage for a daylong celebration on Oct. 26 at Hurlburt Field recognizing John Chapman, a combat controller in the Air Force who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor on Aug. 22, 2018.

The event, the first in which the Exchange has partnered with Air Force Entertainment Live Stage, included an air show followed by three concerts, with country act Big and Rich headlining the event. Before their concert, Big and Rich also recorded a Veterans online shopping benefit shout-out for Exchange social media.

“Both the Exchange and Air Force Entertainment share the same mission of serving the military community,” said Jeri White, Production Manager for Air Force Entertainment Live Stage. “We were thrilled to work with them to bring a great event to a very deserving audience and look forward to continuing this partnership for future events.”

Chapman was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions in the Battle of Takur Ghar in Afghanistan where he was credited with saving the lives of an entire rescue team while succumbing to injuries from the battle. He is the first Airman to receive the honor since the Vietnam War.
