Wall of Heroes on Display at Exchange HQ

For Sandy Coley, her father and brother are heroes. And she wants her colleagues at Exchange headquarters to know why.

The e-commerce business analyst is among 25 Exchange headquarters associates who submitted an entry to the Wall of Heroes in honor of Veterans Day.

The display, which will remain across from the food court on HQ’s first floor during November, includes photos and descriptions of associates’ personal military heroes.

Both Air Force Veterans

Coley submitted photos of her father, Arnold, and her brother, Chris, for the Wall of Heroes. Both are Air Force veterans who served 28 and 26 years, respectively.

Coley’s father, who served in the U.S., Germany, Japan and a remote tour in Vietnam, passed away in 2008 from cancer after complications related to Agent Orange exposure.

Her brother graduated from The Citadel, flew various aircraft more than 4,500 hours, became a flight instructor and commanded the 9th Airlift Squadron, the 362nd Air Expeditionary Group and the 62nd Operations Group.

‘My way of joining the military’

“They both are my heroes,” she said. “Joining the Exchange was my way of joining the military without being in the military. Service to the country was a major part of what I was brought up with— that was instilled in me and my brother at an early age.”

Coley celebrated 30 years with the Exchange in April.
