The Exchange rolled out the red carpet to welcome two interns from the U.S. Military Academy who will spend three weeks at headquarters as part of West Point’s Advanced Individual Academic Development.

Cadets Christian Falk and Thomas Bordeaux joined the Exchange the week of July 22, marking the first time the Exchange has hosted interns from West Point.

Falk and Bordeaux are part of the Department of Engineering and Computer Science at West Point. They will be learning from leaders in IT and completing a required project about the Exchange’s cybersecurity, fraud analysis and investigation as well as advanced threat detection and malware analysis.

Falk and Bordeaux will brief Exchange leadership and West Point leaders as well.

“The Exchange is honored to partner with West Point this summer,” said Randy Ramirez, director of Human Resources talent management. “This is a unique opportunity to give our Nation’s future military leaders an inside look at the Exchange family and leave them with a positive lifelong impression.”

Executives, IT leaders and West Point graduates will all contribute to a robust experience for the Cadets.

Hosting interns helps the Exchange, too, by strengthening its ties to West Point and generating positive awareness among Cadets, who can share their experience and knowledge of the Exchange with other future leaders.

Internships, which West Point refers to as Advanced Individual Academic Development, are required for graduation. They give Cadets opportunity to use their knowledge and leadership skills in new, challenging environments.

Falk and Bordeaux will attend weekly mentoring sessions and Lunch and Learns hosted by senior leaders including Mickey Bradford, acting Executive Vice President & Chief Administrative Officer; and Karen Cardin, Senior Vice President, e-Commerce and Brig. Gen. Brett Sylvia, Deputy Commanding General, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood.

Stay tuned to the Exchange Post over the next few weeks to get to know them better.
