Hurricane Dorian Update: More Exchanges Close as Storm Slams Carolinas

More Exchanges were closing as managers and associates prepared for Hurricane Dorian to slam into the Carolinas sometime Thursday, possibly near Joint Base Charleston.

JB Charleston commanders don’t expect the installation to reopen until mid-Friday.

Here is what was happening at Southeastern Exchanges:

• Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va. – Installation was under a tropical storm warning Thursday. The Exchange delivered 160 cases of water to a Langley shelter. All Langley stores will probably close until Saturday or Sunday. Fort Eustis will have mission-essential personnel Friday.
• Fort Bragg, N.C. – The installation was limited to mission-essential personnel Thursday, but should be open Friday. The Old Glory Express will remain open until 10 p.m. Thursday. Expresses have plenty of fuel.
• Seymour Johnson AFB, N.C. – Exchange stores plan to close Friday.
• Fort Jackson and Shaw AFB, S.C. – Shaw will reopen on Friday. Both locations had plenty of fuel and water Thursday.
• Hunter Army Airfield, Ga. – Installation commanders plan to lift the evacuation orders at 10 a.m. Friday. The Express opened at noon Thursday, with all other stores reopening Friday.
• Fort Stewart, Ga. – Most stores opened Thursday or had already opened.
• Patrick AFB, Fla. – The Express is open. All stores should be open Friday, having endured little damage.
