Air Power! Exchange Celebrates Air Force’s 72nd Birthday
Military and civilian personnel at Exchanges around the world celebrated the Air Force’s 72nd birthday today with speeches, rousing renditions of the Air Force Song, and of course, cake. And things were no different at Exchange headquarters in Dallas.
Guest speaker retired Air Force Col. Roger Neumann, the Exchange’s vice president of contingency plans, served 24 years in the Air Force before he transitioned to work as a civilian at Exchange headquarters. He talked about core values in the Air Force – integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do – and how both military service and Exchange core values drive our daily decisions as Exchange associates.
“It’s important to use your framework of values to evaluate your daily decisions,” he said. “We judge costs, risks and benefits, and those daily decisions drive us towards our long-term goals.”
President and Chief Marketing Officer Ana Middleton, who is also a proud Air Force brat, talked about her father, who served 30 years, rising to the rank of chief master sergeant.
“What he instilled in us was accountability and integrity that comes with the Air Force,” she said. “I’m standing here today because of my father, and the Air Force.”
She then joined Maj. Wai President, contracts division chief, and Staff Sgt. Christophore Hountohotegbe, assistant to the Exchange’s senior enlisted advisor, to cut the cake. Per military tradition, the youngest and oldest Airmen at Exchange headquarters today, President and Hountohotegbe, helped cut the cake.
