At Kandahar, One Warfighter’s Journey Starts with the Exchange

The Kandahar Exchange team has helped a Warfighter and his bride create memories that will last a lifetime.

Spc. Lawrence Rutherford, assigned to Afghanistan’s Kandahar Airfield, won the Fiat Chrysler Autos vacation giveaway, sponsored by Exchange concessionaire Military Auto Sales.

The prize? An all-expenses-paid trip anywhere in the world.

The news couldn’t have come at a better time—Rutherford is recently married but couldn’t go on a honeymoon because of his deployment.

“We are excited to be part of such a special time in Spc. Rutherford’s life,” said Kandahar Exchange Store Manager Sydney Bierman. “The Exchange recognizes the sacrifices our Soldiers make while protecting this great nation. Giving him the honeymoon of his dreams at no cost to him is a small token of our appreciation.”
