New Year, New Restaurant: First Dunkin’ Donuts in Southwest Asia Welcomes Troops
The Exchange brought a unique taste of home on New Year’s Day to deployed troops with a Dunkin’ Donuts at Kuwait’s Camp Arifjan.
“I am so excited to see the opening of Dunkin’ Donuts and the outstanding sales,” said Jason Rosenberg, senior vice president of the Europe/Southwest Asia Region. “This is ‘combat retail’ at its best.”
The restaurant is the first Dunkin Donuts’ in Southwest Asia—and more are expected to open, Rosenberg said.
Associates gave away 500 doughnuts and coffee at grand opening. By the end of the first day, sales stood at nearly $2,000.
“We were bringing them a taste of home way out in the middle of the Kuwaiti desert,” said Clay Tsehaye, services business manager. “They had told us that a place like Dunkin’ Donuts would be good, and we have given them what they wanted. I can safely say that they are quite happy the Exchange came through for them.”
