Exchange Serves USAG Brunssum Community with New Troop Store Mini-Mall
As the U.S. military at USAG Benelux Schinnen relocates to USAG Brunssum as part of the Department of Defense’s European Infrastructure Consolidation, newcomers will have a brand-new place to shop and dine.
The Army & Air Force Exchange Service celebrated the grand opening of a new troop store and mini mall on Feb. 13. USAG Benelux Commander Col. Sean Kuester, USAG Benelux Command Sgt. Maj. Katrina Herzfeld, USAG Benelux Deputy to the Commander Mr. Tom Joyce and Joint Force Command Brunssum Deputy Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Carl Alex joined local Exchange leaders in cutting the ribbon on the new store.
“The convenience and central location of this new troop store will help the Exchange better support our service members,” said Exchange General Manager Lori Maggard. “When our heroes are serving far from home, the Exchange brings the comforts of home to them as part of our ‘We Go Where You Go’ motto.”
The troop store features an Express, family hair care, Stripes alternations, laundry/dry cleaning, Military Auto Source, Enterprise car rental and more.
Service members can also grab a healthy meal at the Bun-D restaurant, which offers salads, wraps, rice bowls and smoothies, with a focus on natural, unprocessed ingredients.
Exchange earnings paid for $900,000 of the project, while the installation provided the renovations needed to bring the building up to code.
