Vice President Denise Hunter says we’re all teachers and students.

As part of Black History Month celebrations, Vice President Denise Hunter shared secrets to growth in the workplace and life during a recent Lunch and Learn by the Exchange’s African American Heritage Special Emphasis Program BRIDGE (Building Resources in Diversity Growth of Employees).

In her presentation Feb. 20 at headquarters in Dallas, the vice president of corporate policy talked about how we grow and make each other better.

“We’re all teachers and we’re all students,” Hunter said. “Just because someone has a title, that doesn’t make them an expert. We all have to give back and we all have to pour into each other.”

Hunter laid out three steps to grow and achieve success – GPS.

  • Grow – set your goals and intentions and work toward making those a reality.
  • Perform – continuously learn, improve and increase your knowledge and capabilities.
  • Succeed – success is not really about what you do but more about how you feel when you are doing it.

“Real growth is not just about you,” she said. “Real growth has to impact others. When I grow, the organization grows, the people around me grow. And that’s when you see real growth. Growth is not self-serving.”
