“Every little bit of morale boost matters, especially when our associates have been working long hours and consecutive days.”

The Central Distribution Center Germersheim (CDC-G) Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) team in Germany received a sweet morale boost courtesy of Exchange Food Plant Operations Manager Don Henson and the Grunstadt bakery.

Henson and his team donated 300 doughnuts to the commissary distribution center team who were working extended hours over the weekend to meet increased supply demands because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We’re all in this together,” Henson said. “The Exchange Grunstadt bakery team was very happy to support our friends at CDC-G DeCA and brighten their day a little.”

About 100 CDC-G DeCA employees volunteered to work Saturday, and 60 volunteered for Sunday. The nearby Express, where CDC-G DeCA employees can pop in for a snack during the week, is closed on weekends, and the surprise doughnuts were much appreciated.

“The treats gave a huge morale lift to our CDC-G DeCA team,” said Doug Nomura, CDC-G distribution facility manager, who shared Henson’s act of kindness with his leadership. “Every little bit of morale boost matters, especially when our associates have been working long hours and consecutive days.”
