Airmen at Creech Air Force Base have a new place to shop for critical uniform needs: the Exchange’s Military Clothing store, which opened May 4.

The installation, which serves roughly 4,000 residents—mostly active-duty and some contractors—is a remote location in south Nevada with a small Express store, a barber shop and a few restaurants. The new 1,500-square-foot Military Clothing store, which sells uniforms, insignia, tactical gear, protective eyewear and more, provides an important resource to the community.

“Because of its small size and remote location, Creech Air Force Base doesn’t have all the Exchange resources found at larger installations,” said General Manager Matthew Beatty. “We’re really focusing on how we can improve the quality of life for the Airmen here, and the new MCS is big step in that goal.”

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the Creech Exchange was still able to get the MCS up and running. Like all Exchange facilities, the MCS is taking extra precaution, including:

  • Limiting total store occupancy to eight.
  • Reminding shoppers to keep physical distance with signs and floor decals.
  • Adhering to Department of Defense guidance requiring all shoppers and associates to wear face masks.
  • Installing an acrylic shield at the cash register.
  • Encouraging credit transactions to limit the handling of cash.
  • Sanitizing customer contact points frequently.

Fitting rooms and alterations are temporarily unavailable as well.

The MCS hopes to hold a celebration later when it is safe to do so.

“As we’ve all been working hard to get this store open to the community, we’ve kept the safety of our shoppers and associates our No. 1 priority,” Beatty said.

The Creech Exchange’s next improvement project is expanding the fuel options at the Express to include premium and midgrade fuel. The project is slated to start later this summer.
