‘Being On the Front Line is an Honor and a Privilege’

Stacey Grier’s managers and associates picked her to receive a challenge coin from Commander Col. Stephen Snelson during his recent visit to the store.

Whenever the Exchange at MacDill AFB needs her, inventory Control associate Stacey Grier is there. She’ll wait on customers, stock shelves, you name it.

She said that’s just who she is—a team member who wants to help her fellow teammates and customers, those she calls her family.

“I work diligently to help my internal and external customers whenever needed,” said Grier, who’s worked at the MacDill Exchange for nearly 12 years. “I don’t have to be told to help; I just give help where help is needed. Being on the front line is an honor and privilege.”

For instance, Grier stepped to help vacancies throughout the store, and is known for helping in the stock room. Several times, she volunteered to change her work schedule to help support the main store with weekly promos and in customer service.

She calls co-workers her extended family, some of whom she’s known for more than 10 years. In her real-life family, her father and one of her sisters were Soldiers, and another sister retired from the Air Force while stationed at MacDill—and she’s proud of their military service.

“We are one team and one family at the Exchange, and I’m proud to be a part of that,” she said. “I stand ready to serve any and all customers during normal conditions as well as current conditions dealing with COVID-19.”

For her work ethic and devotion to Grier, managers chose her to receive a challenge coin from Col. Stephen Snelson, commander of the 6th Air Refueling Wing, during a recent visit to the main store.

“The commander’s appearance and comments,” said General Manager James Clark, “prove how much the MacDill team, including Stacey, means to the community and command.”
