Expanded Air Force Pharmacy Opens at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base
Members of the 355th Medical Command will operate the expanded pharmacy at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.
A steady line of customers greeted the opening day of the renovated Air Force satellite pharmacy June 22 at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.
The pharmacy, under the operation of the 355th Medical Command, was renovated in partnership with the Exchange and will provide more patient privacy with an enclosed lobby, floor-to-ceiling window dividers and a private patient counseling room. In addition, an automated pick-up system with patient-specific cabinets was unveiled.
The pharmacy is open to active-duty Exchange shoppers, along with their families, and retirees. Disabled Veterans who have Tricare coverage also can use the Pharmacy.
“The response has been great so far,” Exchange General Manager Mikel Hunter said. “The newly renovated satellite pharmacy will increase operational efficiency without sacrificing patient safety and provide exemplary services.”
The pharmacy, housed in a former Military Clothing Store/furniture store, is just outside the Exchange next to a durable medical equipment store. Its 4,863 square feet is more than twice the size of the previous facility.
The renovation took eight months and cost $5.7 million. The partnership was a collaboration between the Exchange, the Air Force Medical Group, Civil Engineer Squadron, Security Forces Squadron and the Air Force Medical Readiness Agency.
