During World War II, the Army Exchange Service—as the Exchange was known then—operated stores  throughout Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia, serving American troops in the North Africa Theater of Operations. One of those stores was in Casablanca, Morocco.
