125 Years of Family Serving Family – Chaepun Taylor
One in a series honoring the Exchange’s 125 years of family serving family
As the pandemic began to worsen in the United States this year, Fort Meade central checkout supervisor Chaepun Taylor grew increasingly concerned for the safety of not only the military members she serves but for her co-workers on the front lines.
Because masks were in limited supply, Taylor took matters into her own hands and began making face coverings for any associates who wanted one.
“Everyone was in a bit of a panic as they wanted to serve our customers but also were concerned about protecting themselves and their families,” Taylor said. “Although I do not have the professional skill, I saw a need and made almost 250 masks.”
Her efforts made a significant impact on the team.
“Taylor’s commitment to keeping her team safe is a testament to her dedication,” said Fort Meade Exchange General Manager Robin Boylan. “Knowing that we are mission essential, she made every precaution a priority, from handmade masks to homemade sanitizer, to ensure that her team had the tools to stay healthy.”
Taylor’s husband served 30 years in the Army and their two sons, Andrew and Chris, also work at the Fort Meade Exchange. Chris will be leaving soon to enter the Air Force.
“I’m proud to be a military family member and sharing my energy and supporting our military families,” Taylor said. “I believe serving these heroes is a blessing from God in my life.”
Good Job Robin
