125 Years of Family Serving Family – Omler Family
One in a series honoring the Exchange’s 125 years of family serving family
Mary Omler and her family understand the Exchange’s mission of “We Go Where You Go.” As the wife of an Airman, she followed her husband throughout his 20-year career.
“When arriving at a new duty station the first three things we always did were to check out housing, find the Exchange and then the commissary,” Mary said. “The Exchange is a constant in an ever-changing environment for military families.”
Her appreciation of that consistency led Mary to start her Exchange career 28 years ago as a temporary cash cage associate for the holiday season at the Travis Air Force Base Exchange in California.
“I recognized what an important role the Exchange has played and continues to play in the life of our military families and I am honored to be a part of it,” she said.
Mary recently became the general manager for the United Kingdom and Norway Consolidated Exchange. Mary’s two sons are also a part of the Exchange. Together, Mary and her sons have served the military and their families for 72 years combined.
Michael Omler has been with the Exchange for 24 years and is an assistant store manager at the Travis Air Force Base Express.
“I enjoy coming to work,” Michael said. “The ability to serve the best customers in the world on a daily basis is a great honor.”
Kyle Omler is the main store manager with the Spangdahlem Exchange in Germany and just celebrated his 20th year as an associate.
“It is a unique experience being a part of the Exchange family because I know that no other company does what we do, or goes where we go,” Kyle said.
Family serving family describes the Omlers as they continue to live out the Exchange’s mission and core values.
“I am extremely proud to be part of this extraordinary family,” Mary said. “I believe in our mission and vision, and know we play an important role in the morale and welfare of our military members and their families, as well as our retirees, and now our Veterans.”
