Brig. Gen. Doug Lowrey, Commanding General of the U.S. Army Security Assistance Command.

In honor of American Indian/Alaska Native Heritage Month, Brig. Gen. Doug Lowrey, Commanding General of the U.S. Army Security Assistance Command, shared his thoughts about the importance of a diverse and inclusive workplace with Exchange associates.

Lowrey, an Oklahoma native who is of Cherokee descent, was promoted to brigadier general in September and is the only Native American general officer serving on active duty in the Army. His video message was presented by Exchange special emphasis group Nations Network in partnership with the Equal Employment Opportunity, Diversity & Inclusion office.

“Our Armed Forces represent a place where the diversity of race, color, gender and religion come together so all Americans can see themselves represented and know they have equal opportunity to succeed,” Lowery said. “And it’s no secret that a more diverse team is a stronger and more successful team.”

In the video, which can be viewed here, Lowrey saluted Exchange associates for their service and continuing “to provide for our Warfighters wherever they are called to serve, as well as our Veterans and family members both home and abroad.”

Very good for retirees receiving this information. Thank You. We must keep AAFES strong and never combine with the other military exchanges. Please do not let this happen! Agree with our AAFES diversity. AAFES diverse workforce is key to serving a diverse customer. You go AAFES. God bless our warriors and families!
