125 Years of Family Serving Family – Ms. Chang, Hong-cha, Camp Walker Food Court Manager

Ms. Chang, Hong-cha has risen through the Exchange ranks to oversee the Camp Walker food court.

One in a series of honoring the Exchange’s 125 years of family serving family

Military and civilian life can often feel like two different worlds, especially when there is an Army base right in the heart of your city. As a young Korean National, Ms. Chang, Hong-cha was intrigued by the world on the other side of the fence.

In the summer of 1978, Ms. Chang’s curiosity led her to the Exchange. At 21 years old, her first job was washing dishes at the Camp Henry snack bar in Daegu, South Korea.

More than four decades later, Ms. Chang has risen through the ranks and now oversees the Camp Walker food court.

Being a part of the Exchange team remains important to Ms. Chang. She recognizes the sacrifice Soldiers and families make when they leave home to serve overseas and appreciates how the Exchange supports them by improving their quality of life and treating them like family

“I am very proud to be a member of the Exchange,” she said.

Ms. Chang has also experienced the Exchange core value of family serving family in her personal life. Because Chang has worked in a variety of positions, she has traveled overseas for training and attending conferences.

“I can have a happy family because I can support my family with a company like AAFES,” Chang said.
