COVID-19 Heroes: Command Honors Fort Irwin Team for Going Above and Beyond
On Nov. 30, managers at the Fort Irwin Exchange received a surprise visit from Garrison Commander Col. Jeanette Martin, who thanked the team for protecting the force during the COVID-19 pandemic.
While following safety protocols, Martin met Fort Irwin Exchange General Manager Holly Elliott in the Main Store lobby, along with Main Store Manager Lorraine Davis and other managers.
At the Main Store, Martin delivered certificates of appreciation for each of the Exchange’s more than 200 associates in honor of their commitment and assistance with the garrison’s response to the pandemic, as well as providing support services to the Fort Irwin community
“We are located in an isolated area of the Mojave Desert, with the next nearest town some 30 miles away,” Elliott said. “Throughout the crisis, our team has done all that it can to make sure that Soldiers and their families have access to the items they need. Their dedication is truly a testament to our core value of family serving family.”
Elliott said managers were grateful to receive the visit and recognition from Martin.
“The team has gone above and beyond this year to deliver a safe, secure and sanitized shopping experience to the Fort Irwin community,” she said. “It was such an honor to have command recognize everyone for their hard work during this extraordinary year.”
