125 Years of Family Serving Family – Laura Quives and Vanessa Hunt, Fort Hood
One in a series honoring the Exchange’s 125 years of family serving family.
Laura Quives and Vanessa Hunt became familiar with the Exchange at a young age while shopping with their mom during their father’s 22-year Army career.
Twenty-seven years ago, Laura’s friend started working at the Fort Hood Exchange Burger King. Laura applied for a job, hoping they would be able to work together.
“I ended up getting hired at a different Burger King, so our plan backfired, but I am still here many years later,” said Laura, who is now the Burger King manager.
Her sister, Vanessa, came to the Exchange more recently and now has three years under her belt. She currently works as a sandwich artist at the Fort Hood Exchange Subway, where she benefits from her sister’s experience.
“I can always ask Laura questions because she knows everything about the Exchange and is a real stickler for all the policies,” Vanessa said.
The sisters enjoy the Exchange’s supportive family atmosphere.
“I love the knowledge you can gain working at the Exchange and the fact that everyone is willing to share their knowledge to help you grow,” Laura said.
Vanessa also appreciates the opportunities to move up at the Exchange—something she’s seen her sister do.
“I’m proud of Laura. I’ve watched her grow in a company she loves from her beginning as a cook to running her own store,” Vanessa said. “She’s the greatest!”
Way to go Laura and Vanessa…… FORT HOOD ROCKS!
Thanks, Teri. We agree!
