Panzer PX Hosts Pop-Up Read for Read Across America Day
In collaboration with the local U.S. Army Garrison Stuttgart library, the Panzer PX hosted a pop-up event celebrating Read Across America Day on March 2.
“This event was planned as a surprise for the children,” Store Manager Jessica Provan said. “We are always excited when we can bring smiles to our families.”
Army & Air Force Exchange Service associates, along with Patch Library Technician Raechele Butler, dressed up as beloved Dr. Seuss characters while the children were treated to stories.
“It was great to dress up and read stories that were read to us as children,” Provan said. “We are always eager to partner with others when we can bring events like this to our service members and families.”
Before the pop-up event, the Exchange advertised a “Who hair” contest on its Facebook page. Military families were encouraged to stop by or post photos of their children with the best hairdo. The lucky winner was 4-year-old Calista Crusanch who received a $25 gift card for her wacky “Seussical” hairdo.
“By hosting these events, we hope we are helping families create happy memories while being deployed,” Provan said. “The Exchange is a strong part of the military community. We are all in for our military families.”
That’s GREAT to see. Families coming together to celebrate reading and the fact that we are all of the same tribe.
Very well said. Thanks for writing and for supporting the Exchange, David!
