Apply Now for AREA College Scholarships!
For the 36th year, the Army & Air Force Exchange Service’s Retired Employees Association (AREA) is offering scholarships for the children of associates and military personnel assigned to the Exchange.
Graduating high school seniors who have been accepted to an accredited college or university have until March 31 to apply for the scholarships.
This year, AREA plans to award $40,000 in scholarships to graduating high school seniors for the 2021-22 academic year.
Scholarships available for college- and university-bound students include:
- One scholarship for $5,000
- Nine scholarships for $3,000 each
In addition, 10 scholarships for $800 each will be distributed to students who will attend and have been accepted to two-year accredited community college and technical schools.
AREA may also award additional scholarships depending on the number and quality of applications received.
More than $867,000 in scholarships have been awarded since the program began in 1985.
For more information or to apply, visit AREA’s website.
Good Day-
Would I be able to apply for a Scholarship for my Grandson. I work for AAFES for 10 years.
Hi, Ruby. Thanks for writing! According to eligibility requirements posted on the AREA website, applicants must be natural, legally adopted children or custodial stepchildren of active, retired or deceased Exchange U. S. payroll employees or military personnel assigned to the Exchange.
Hope this helps, but the website has a full list of criteria for eligibility.
