125 Years of Family Serving Family – Sally Green, Offutt Air Force Base

Sally Green treats customers like family—and they love her in return.

“My No. 1 goal is to make sure the customer is taken care of,” said Green, a customer experience associate at the Offutt Air Force Base Exchange. “I know customers by name, and they know me by name. People like that. You’re not just a person to them. You’re family.”

Green has been part of the Exchange family for 26 years. As she lives out the Exchange’s core value of family serving family, she sets high goals for herself. She especially enjoys her role as a MILITARY STAR card ambassador—she’s championed the card since 2016.

Green’s military family matters as well. Her role with the Exchange allowed her to transfer when her Air Force husband PCS’d. They’re both from Nebraska, so when he retired in 2010, they settled in Bellevue, just outside of Offutt. Her daughter, Amber, also joined the Exchange family and works at the Offutt Burger King.

Although Green has worked several different jobs during her career, including the jewelry counter and PowerZone, her favorite is being a cashier. And her passion for customer service shines.

“In Germany, I received a coin from the commanding general,” Green said. “He always got gas at the Express, and we would talk. He brought me to headquarters with two other civilians and a service member who worked on base. I was the only Exchange associate to get a coin from the four-star general.”

For Green, stellar customer service remains her priority.

“I like interacting with customers; it makes me feel good,” Green said. “When you get to know the person, it goes a long way.”

The vital importance of Inventory Management cannot be underestimated therefore it is the responsibility of the AAFES Germersheim Distribution Center Cyclic Inventory Team to ensure accountability of all items within its spectrum. One must note that cyclic inventory is not just about counting but ensuring storage safety for all Associates and Customers as well. We ensure the locations are correct, monitor the expiration dates and ensure we meet all USA and German safety procedures and policy guidelines. In order to determine what is available and shipped for retail and food service operations all safety steps must be met. This is a huge responsibility with limited space for error. It is our joy to take on this important daily task while enjoying working with our fellow Associates and deserving Customers. Serving The Best Customers in the World. The AAFES Germersheim Distribution Center.
