CAMP HUMPHREYS—Since July 1991, Food Activity Manager Cha, Hye-chin, has been working for the Exchange, where she started as a food service associate at Humphreys Sentry Burger King. More than 30 years later, she still enjoys coming to work and serving the best customers in the world while working side-by-side with her teammates.

Her love for her customers and associates made her journey memorable as she earned her way to management. She ensures that everyone feels like they are a valuable member of the team.

“Thirty years is more than half my life and it’s been a great journey but I didn’t think I would spend 30 years here.” Cha said. “The greatest thing about working for the Exchange is the opportunity to talk to my customers and my fellow associates. I believe that I owe my happiness to them.”

The Exchange’s core value of family serving family became evident to her in 2002 when she got married and started a family of her own. She was given enough time to raise two sons while still working for the Exchange.

“I will always appreciate the Exchange for the opportunity for not only a job but a job that I enjoy,” Cha said. “I was able to have a family with my precious children and work comfortably, which was a blessing.”

Over the course of her career, Cha has learned through training and observing different leadership styles that having good communication skills is the key to becoming a good manager and creates a positive work environment, which in turn generates great customer service.

“I have seen so many good things happen and accomplished a lot through maintaining good communication,” Cha said.

In her 30 years at the Exchange, Cha has crossed paths with many associates and customers who helped her grow into the person and manager she is today. She wants to share her story and experiences with other associates to help them reach their full potential.

Cha doesn’t have any plans of retiring or even slowing down. Her love for her customers and her teammates still remains strong.

“It’s been an honor to be a part of the Exchange, serving the best customers alongside my teammates,” Cha said. “I would love to work here as long as I can because I love what I do.”
