126 Years of Family Serving Family – Connie Evers, Offutt Air Force Base
One in a series honoring the Exchange’s 126 years of family serving family
Connie Evers, a food service foreman who’s spent her entire Exchange career at Offutt Air Force Base, started working at as a retail associate in the main store until she became pregnant with her first child. Upon returning to work, Evers discovered that she preferred food service, where she’s been for most of her 28 years with the Exchange.
Offutt is home to the U.S. Strategic Command (STRATCOM). Evers served customers for many years at the STRATCOM Café, until it closed.
“I really miss it,” Evers said. “Working there was great because it allowed me to be a mother and work at the same time. I met and got to know a lot of the customers, and they really appreciated our service.”
Evers noted that she received coins from several commanding officers.
After the café closed, she worked at the main store for a few months, and then she was back in the food court at Burger King, and now she’s at Popeyes. She epitomizes a can-do attitude.
“I work wherever they need me,” she said.
Serving runs in the Evers family; her husband retired from the Navy after 24 years, and two of their three children are in the military—a son in the Marines and a daughter in the Navy.
Ms. Connie! We appreciate you and your hard work! THANK YOU!
