POWER to Pack Several Activities into Women’s History Month
A lunch and learn with a U.S. Space Force executive is among the activities planned by Special Emphasis Program POWER (Promote Opportunities for Women by Effecting Results) for Women’s History Month, which is March 1-31.
Retired Army Col. Patricia Mulcahy, the Space Force’s chief human capital officer, will speak on the topic “One Woman’s Perspective on Serving in the DoD” during the virtual lunch and learn at noon Central Time March 10 via Microsoft Teams (to register, click here). She will address her experiences during her military and civilian careers, as well as current accomplishments in the Space Force and setting conditions for success.
Mulcahy provides leadership and direction in several areas of personnel management, including equal opportunity and family support for military and civilian personnel at 175 locations worldwide in support of the Force’s space launch, space surveillance, missile warning and satellite command and control operations.
She is a 29-year Army Veteran who retired in 2009. She served at every level of military personnel management and personnel service support, including company, battalion and brigade command, as well as key staff assignments in the 3rd Infantry Division, Army G-1 and European Command.
Since her retirement from the Army, she has served as a federal civilian employee in several military personnel policy positions in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness. She has received the Distinguished service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Office of the Secretary of Defense Medal for Exceptional Civilian Service, and various other awards and unit commendations.
Also happening during Women’s History Month:
- On March 1, POWER trailer panels were unveiled at the Waco Distribution Center. POWER is the latest Special Emphasis Program to be featured on the truck panels, following associates with disabilities program ABLE (Able, Believe, Lead, Empower) in the fall and BRIDGE (Building Resources in Diversity Growth of Employees) for Black History Month in February.
- Exchange Post stories and social-media posts highlighting pioneering women in Exchange history.
- A women’s history trivia contest, with questions sent via email the week of March 14. The winner will receive a mug with the National Women’s History Alliance Logo.
