One-Time Excess Vacation Leave Payout This Week
If you ended 2021 with excess vacation leave, you will see compensation for that time in your paycheck this week.
In a one-time event, the Exchange will pay out 2021 excess vacation leave as of 24 Dec., 2021. Depending on your leave carryover limit, you can roll over up to 240 or 360 hours of vacation leave—anything over that is excess. The payout will be capped at 208 hours.
The decision was made because of the unprecedented circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Many of our teammates have been working the front lines since the pandemic began, meeting the needs of our Warfighters and their families,” said Dr. Patrick Oldenburgh, Chief Human Resources Officer. “Instead of the excess leave expiring, associates will see compensation for that leave in their paycheck this week.”
This one-time payment for the excess vacation leave hours will be reflected as “Lump Sum VL Payoff” on the March 11 paycheck stub and will be subtracted from the leave balance in Employee Self Service.
Accrued 2021 vacation leave under your pay-band cap will not be affected, nor will any 2022 vacation leave.
“This one-time event allows the Exchange to appropriately recognize team members’ extraordinary work despite incredibly challenging circumstances,” Oldenburgh said.
This is great for all those who worked extra hard this past year! I’m glad the Exchange is doing this.
