Exchange Rewards IMCOM-Europe’s Best Warrior Competition Winners
The Exchange rewarded two winners of the 2022 Installation Command Management-Europe Best Warrior Competition with $200 Exchange gift cards April 13 at Baumholder, Germany.
The competition brought enlisted Soldiers from seven garrisons throughout Europe to Baumholder. The 12 Soldiers, ranking from private first class to staff sergeant, competed in all aspects of military technical and tactical skills testing their mental and physical agility. After the four-day competition, two winners were announced during an awards ceremony.
This year’s winners are Sgt. Peter Wallis, representing U.S. Army Garrison Italy, and Spc. Patrick Chayeb, representing U.S. Army Garrison Benelux.
Senior Enlisted Advisor for Exchange Europe/Southwest Asia Region Sgt. Maj. Lemakius Gardner and Baumholder Exchange Store Manager Charles Meyer represented the Exchange on behalf of its Recognizing Excellence Program, which acknowledges outstanding performances by military members and presented the winners with the gift cards.
“It’s always great to see our Soldiers and NCOs leading the way,” Gardner said. “I’m honored to be a part of such a fantastic organization that recognizes the hard work and accomplishments these Warfighters demonstrate.”
Meyer, who has been with the Exchange for nearly 20 years, enjoys being a part of events that reward the great achievements of service members.
“Their excellence is beyond reproach,” Meyer said about the two winners. “We can explain why the Exchange mission is compelling and important, but we must also show that their sacrifice for excellence is not limited to the battlefield.”
Wallis said he was grateful for the mentorship he received and as an expecting father, he has only one plan for the gift card.
“This is our first child so it’s all going towards baby supplies,” Wallis said.
Wallis and Chayeb will go on to compete in the IMCOM-level competition in San Antonio, Texas.
