Exchange Opens First Asurion Tech Repair & Solutions™ Locations, Mobile Repair Service
The Exchange launched its first Asurion Tech Repair & Solutions™ locations June 6 at Forts Carson and Hood, as well as a mobile repair service at 30 additional CONUS installations that allows service members and families to get their smartphones repaired anywhere on or near the installation.
At Fort Hood, Garrison Commander Col. Chad Foster joined Exchange Vice President of Services, Health, Wellness and Telecom Denise Gumbert; Fort Hood Exchange General Manager Charlyne Morganfield; Asurion Vice President of Corporate Operations Eric Mueller; and other Exchange and Asurion® officials in cutting the ribbon on the repair shop.
Just 30 minutes later, Tom Joyce, Fort Carson Garrison Deputy Commander; Dawn Williams, Fort Carson Exchange Services Business Manager; Nick Basquill-White, Asurion Corporate Growth Change Manager; and other Exchange and Asurion® officials cut the ribbon on the Fort Carson location.
Both the Hood and Carson Asurion Tech Repair & Solutions locations provide fixes for smartphones, tablets, computers, game consoles and other electronic devices. The mobile repair service, available at select installations in 17 states and the District of Columbia, allows service members and families to book an appointment to have an expert meet them at any location convenient to them to fix their phone—often as soon as the same day.
“Teaming up with Asurion is a great opportunity for the Exchange to provide tech repair service to our customers in a variety of formats,” said Laura Duran, business program specialist for the Exchange’s Services and Food directorate. “Having mobile repair as an option for some of our smaller locations helps us bring this service to more military communities than would otherwise be possible if we were just limited to traditional storefronts. This way, we are able to enhance the Exchange benefit for a much larger number of service members and families.”
The Hood and Carson locations are the first of eight Asurion Tech Repair & Solutions storefronts slated to open at CONUS military installations this summer, including Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Forts Stewart and Riley, and Dover and Travis Air Force Bases.
