JBER Exchange Opens Ninth Micro Market, More to Come
The Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson Exchange is making sure Soldiers and Airmen have healthy dining options, no matter where on installation they are. The Exchange opened its ninth self-serve micro market last week at the Arctic Oasis Recreation building.
It’s the fourth micro market the JBER Exchange has opened this year, with four more scheduled before year’s end.
“The Exchange is working to make sure the community is taken care of, no matter where on JBER you work or live,” said JBER Exchange General Manager Keola Chan. “Adding this latest micro market ensures our Soldiers and Airmen have quick and convenient access to healthy food.”
The Arctic Oasis micro market offers meals, snacks and beverages, including better-for-you options such as salads, wraps, fresh fruit, protein bars, breakfast burritos and more.
673rd Mission Support Group Commander Col. Erik Dunn and 673rd Mission Support Group Command Chief Master Sgt. David Slone joined Chan and other Exchange leaders in cutting the ribbon.
Other Exchange micro markets opened this year include Hangar 3, Peoples Center and JBER Hospital.
JBER shoppers can use their US Connect card at all Exchange micro markets to give back to a charity of their choice, including military booster clubs.
The Arctic Oasis micro market is at Bldg. 4251 and is open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
