#FlashbackFriday: A Whole Latte Pictures for National Coffee Day
Sept. 29 was National Coffee Day, but rather than believe that is a day late, #FlashbackFriday would like to propose that every day is National Coffee Day.
The Exchange has offered coffee throughout its history, but things have gotten fancier through the years, with the addition of Starbucks, Dunkin’, Seattle’s Best and more, as well as the coffee and coffee beverages offered at Expresses.
Here’s a photographic, caffeinated look back.

A long way from iced lattes: The post exchange coffee shop at Fort Richardson, Alaska, in 1947. Fort Richardson is now part of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. JBER is home to two Starbucks locations; Café Nai, a Veteran-owned café at the JBER hospital; Soda & S’More, which offers several coffee drinks; and more.

Exchange Starbucks crew members at the opening of the Exchange’s 100th Starbucks in 2020 at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. The location was part of the big celebration when JBLM unveiled its $72.6 million expansion on Sept. 28. The Exchange’s first Starbucks opened Sept. 5, 1997, at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.
