The Exchange’s BE FIT 360 Ambassador Roy Montez joined roughly 20,000 military and civilian runners from around the world in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 8 to participate in the third-largest 10-mile race in the world: the Army Ten-Miler.

Montez ran among Veterans and active-duty soldiers as well as 55 Wounded Warriors and wheelchair athletes in support of the readiness and resiliency of the U.S. Army. The race began at the Pentagon and runners passed the Lincoln, Korean War and Martin Luther King Jr. memorials and the Washington Monument on the route.

“It is important for the Exchange to build close relationships with the entire military community to promote the BE FIT 360 program and initiatives,” Montez said. “Participating in these races allows us to interact closely with service members and further communicate the BE FIT 360 mission to stay ready and resilient.”

The Exchange’s Corporate Communication and Brand Marketing team cheered on participants and provided snacks to spectators and runners after the race. The team also streamed Montez at the Ten-Miler starting line on Facebook Live. Click here to see the video.

The race weekend included a free Expo event at the D.C. Armory, where the Joint Base Andrews Exchange store team provided protein snacks and energy drinks for booth visitors. Expo eventgoers who stopped at the Exchange’s table also learned more about the MILITARY STAR® card and how the Exchange serves those who serve.

Montez will travel to Cape Canaveral to compete in the Space Force T-Minus Ten-Miler in December.
