Who she is: Hafeeza McCullough, sales and merchandise manager, Joint Base Lewis-McChord
Years with the Exchange: 18
What brought her to the Exchange: “I’m from Dallas and also raised in Port Arthur, Texas, so after completing undergraduate school, I applied for a copywriter position at headquarters and was referred to the college trainee program,” McCullough said.
Where she’s worked: Charleston Air Force Base; United States Military Academy–West Point; Fort Stewart; and Joint Base Lewis-McChord. She also deployed to Afghanistan, Qatar and Iraq between 2007 and 2010.
What she did at first: McCullough’s first assignment after completing the college trainee program was at Charleston AFB, where she worked as a sales area manager. “The program taught me to always seek out information on my own,” she said. “I’ve stayed committed to the company. Out of my class, I’m the 1% who made a career with the Exchange.”
She also held roles as the sales and merchandise manager and temporary store manager at the West Point and Fort Stewart Exchanges.
What she does now: She is the sales and merchandise manager at the Lewis Main Exchange.
Memorable moments: “Deployment was very fun and rewarding. I got to meet people from all over the world and I never knew learning about other cultures and enjoying their food would be something that I would enjoy so much,” McCullough said. “I was able to hop on helicopters and planes with the Soldiers, and every day I walked miles with my rucksack from one base to another to train managers.”
Military connections: McCullough’s grandfather and three uncles served in the Army. Her aunt served in the Navy.
Family serving family: “I chose the Army and Air Force Exchange Service as a career because of what we provide for the Soldiers and their family members,” she said. “I take great pride in being a part of the AAFES motto ‘family serving family.’ I feel like I am making a difference in the world every day.”
