Fort Sill Exchange Helps Soldiers, Visitors Get the Most Out of Their Time in Lawton with New Tourism Kiosk
The Army & Air Force Exchange Service and Lawton Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce unveiled a new tourism kiosk at the Fort Sill Exchange mall on Nov. 28.
Mr. Joe Gallagher, Fires Center of Excellence and Fort Sill Deputy to the Commanding General; Col. James Peay, Garrison Commander; Col. Daniel Blackmon, Fires Center of Excellence Chief of Staff; Lawton Mayor Stan Booker; Mr. Michael Cleghorn, Lawton City Manager; Mr. Mike Brown, Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army; and Chamber of Commerce CEO Dr. Krista Ratliff joined Exchange General Manager Mikel Hunter in cutting the ribbon on the kiosk, which helps installation visitors learn more about points of interest around Lawton, Oklahoma.
“This kiosk will be an invaluable resource for Soldiers, spouses and military family members, as well as extended family visiting for graduation ceremonies and other events,” Hunter said. “We are honored to work with the Chamber of Commerce to bring this convenience to the Fort Sill community.”
The kiosk, provided to the Exchange by the Chamber of Commerce, allows visitors to interact with the Chamber’s Visit Lawton/Fort Sill mobile app to create a digital itinerary including local attractions; turn-by-turn tours including directions and narration for each stop; event listings; and more. The itinerary can then be sent to the user’s own personal device to reference on the go.
Under the Exchange’s agreement with the Chamber of Commerce, all Fort Sill Exchange locations, including on-post dining options, will also be listed in the kiosk, as well as two similar kiosks located inside Lawton-Fort Sill Regional Airport and the Chamber of Commerce building, free of charge. Exchange facilities will also be listed in the Chamber’s mobile app.
“This agreement will not only bring more shoppers to the PX, but helps strengthen the Exchange’s relationships with business partners in the Lawton community,” Hunter said. “We thank the Chamber for their generosity in helping the Fort Sill community and its guests learn more about how the Exchange can help make the most of their time in the Lawton area.”
This is a really neat idea! I wish this could be expanded to more locations!
