Special Emphasis Group BRIDGE Tests Your Knowledge of Civil Rights Allies

Exchange BRIDGE Special Emphasis Group

With Martin Luther King Jr. Day approaching, Exchange Special Emphasis group BRIDGE (Building Resources in Community Growth of Employees) is sponsoring an Allies for Civil Rights trivia contest this week.

Each day through Friday, trivia questions will be sent to the Exchange workforce via email. The questions apply to other Special Emphasis Programs as well as BRIDGE; for instance, a question about an award-winning Black American actress with dyslexia and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is connected to Special Emphasis group ABLE (Able, Believe, Lead, Empower) as well as BRIDGE.

Every day during the contest, the names of two people who have given correct answers will be drawn as winners. All winners will be revealed on Jan. 17. To participate in the contest, click here.

Senior Vice President for Europe/Southwest Asia/Africa Marla Smith Randolph, one of BRIDGE’s Executive Champions, came up with the idea for the contest, and the BRIDGE team helped shape the details. Vice President of Corporate Policy Denise Hunter is co-Executive Champion, and Judy Hathaway, an Exchange quality assurance analyst, is program manager.

This year, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a U.S. federal holiday, falls on Monday, Jan. 16. King’s birthday is observed on the third Monday of January, commemorating the civil-rights leader’s Jan. 15 birthday.

The holiday’s national recurring theme is “Remember! Celebrate! Act! A Day On, Not a Day Off!” Those who have the day off are encouraged to engage in public service and promote peaceful social change.
