‘Inspiring Change’ Fuels BRIDGE Events for Black History Month

Exchange BRIDGE Special Emphasis Group

Black History Month begins Feb. 1, and Exchange special emphasis group BRIDGE (Building Resources in Diversity Growth of Employees) has events planned for every week in February.

The Department of Defense’s theme for this year’s observance is “Inspiring Change,” which epitomizes the contributions of African Americans to challenging racial inequities and promoting opportunities for equal advancement for African Americans. BRIDGE events will speak to the theme and the resilient Exchange culture.

Marla Randolph, Senior Vice President for Europe/Southwest Asia/Africa region and Executive Champion of BRIDGE said, “the BRIDGE leaders have a lot to share with you this month”.

BRIDGE events include:

Week one (Feb. 1-7)—Recipes from the Heart: “We’re going to release a virtual recipe book,” said Denise Hunter, vice president, corporate policy and one of BRIDGE’s executive champions. “It will have recipes that were submitted by associates for Juneteenth last year and from previous events. The recipes will have links that readers can click on.”

Week two (Feb. 8-14) —Words That Inspire Change: This will feature audio of inspirational speeches from people who have been instrumental in shaping Black history and inspiring change.

Week three (Feb. 15-21) —A Call to Action—Playing Your Part: This week will center on the quote “Out of many, we are one” and will involve a call to action to associates recommending ways they can honor Black history by supporting unity and progress.

Week four (Feb. 22): Jason Rosenberg, Exchange Chief Operating Officer, will speak during a special “chew and chat” at 8:30 a.m. (CST) Feb. 22. Rosenberg is the chairman of the Exchange’s Diversity Council. A Teams invite will be sent to the workforce ahead of the event.
