Operation: Call Out—Eastern Region

Eastern Region proudly recognizes Rose Nittel, Thomas Sanchez and Marilou Johnson for their contributions and support of the Exchange Mission. The focus on customer service is a priority, and it shows in the results! Thanks for all you do!

Rose Nittel
Concessions Food Assistant
Fort Belvoir-Myer

Rose coordinates scheduling for a fleet of 11 food trucks and reviews 14 concession food restaurants for code compliancy. Her methodical oversight resulted in zero non-compliancy health inspections over the last year. Rose is organized and proactive about supporting installation events. She ensures support in “food desert” areas of the post and sets up food truck “pit stops” to highlight small Veteran-owned businesses to provide a variety of food options for our customers. As a direct result of her determination, short-term food agreement sales are up 349% over last year at Belvoir and up 147% at Myer.

Thomas Sanchez
Laborer
Ontario Express–Fort Drum

Thomas Sanchez is more than just a laborer at Ontario Express. He serves as the representative for the Fort Drum Safety & Health Council, he’s happy to fill in to prep and expedite pizzas in Hunt Brothers or jump on a register in a moment’s notice. Thomas has taken ownership of the warehouse and continuously meets daily standards. He has learned how to receive and is in the process of learning how to send messages to the Dan Daniel Distribution Center to ensure we receive credit for our shortages and overages, as well as any other issues.  This past winter, we had two snowstorms, receiving 60 inches of snow in some places. Thomas was there to keep our doors and sidewalks accessible for our customers and associates. He is well-liked by his peers and happy to assist any one of them. With his drive and dedication to accomplish any task, Thomas has a great future with the Exchange.

Marilou Johnson
Burger King Kitchen Worker
Andrews Air Force Base

Marilou Johnson has been with the Andrews Burger King family for 30 years. She consistently demonstrates outstanding customer service with positive energy and a smile! Marilou understands her role in the Exchange mission to ensure the military community is well taken care of. As a dedicated member of the team and an expert in her duties, Marilou is the first to say “yes,” calls out orders, restocks products, motivates her team to expedite orders and completes every task with a smile.  She has played a large part in Burger King’s financial success—our sales for the current year are up 8.7%, gross profit is 3.5% above last year, and productivity is up 14.7% above last year!  Marilou not only sets a great example for the rest of the team, but she also exemplifies Family Serving Family.
