Fort Cavazos Kicks Off Rookie USA Launch With Ribbon Cutting And Fashion Show

FORT CAVAZOS – The Fort Cavazos Exchange team enhanced the back-to-school shopping experience for military families by hosting a fashion show featuring trending styles from the recently launched Rookie USA collection.

On Aug. 12, military shoppers gathered in the shopping mall to watch the fashion show. Hosted by Softlines Sales Area Manager Sgt. Jeremy Patterson, school-aged military kids walked and danced down the runway sporting looks from Rookie USA’s brands: Levi’s, Nike, Converse, Hurley, Jordan and Nike 3BRAND by Russell Wilson. Eventgoers received Nike drawstring backpacks and school supplies and participated in games while shopping for the upcoming school year. As a result of the brand’s launch event, sales in the kids department saw a 12% increase.

“The event was a successful introduction to Rookie USA,” said General Manager CJ Morganfield. “The Cavazos team gave our shoppers a positive, first encounter with the new brands and made back to school shopping a fun and entertaining experience for our military kids.”

Rookie USA officially launched in-store Aug. 11. Fort Cavazos welcomed the collection with a ribbon-cutting event. Exchange Softlines Vice President Marissa Carpenter and Divisional Merchandise Manager Sylvia Smitherman helped cut the ribbon on the new addition.

“Rookie USA provides kid-favorite brands to our shoppers at an exclusive price on top of the already tax-free savings,” Smitherman said. “This new arrival launched just in time for the back-to-school season and we’re excited to see how well it performs in our stores and online.”

Melinda Marroquin, wife of retired SFC Javier Marroquin, expressed excitement for the timely launch while shopping for her grandchild.

“I came today to take advantage of the MILITARY STAR no interest promotion,” Marroquin said. “There is always a great selection here and there’s no tax. It’s not that expensive to dress your child or your grandchild and I enjoy that.”

Fort Campbell, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Lackland Air Force Base and Fort Belvoir Exchanges also welcomed Rookie USA in-store this month.
