From ME3: Gaming Night Event Spotlights Morale-Boosting Activity

Associates from the Exchange, CGX, NEXCOM and MCX put their gaming skills to the test at this week’s Military Exchanges Electronics Expo (ME3), getting a chance to play top trending games most loved by service members.

Exchange shoppers purchased more than $1.1 billion in electronics, including gaming equipment and accessories, in 2022. Attendees stopped in after vendor presentations to play trending single player games, including God of War and Spider-Man.

“Gaming is an essential activity for service members that boosts morale and has been noted as a retention tool across military branches,” said Senior Buyer Dennis Robertson. “Tonight’s games are reflective of what our shoppers enjoy, and the selection allows our associates to experience the games for themselves.”

Military esports is a program implemented by the Department of Defense to boost retention for the six military branches. The Exchange has supported the DoD’s esports efforts since 2019 and will provide prizes to winners of the Army MWR’s 2023 Soldier Showdown V Sweepstakes, ending Sept. 30.
