Exchange to Remain Open If Government Shuts Down
The Army & Air Force Exchange Service will remain open even if the federal government shuts down at midnight Sept. 30, and associates can rest assured that they will not see an interruption in their payroll.
The Exchange does not rely on appropriations from Congress and as a non-appropriated fund entity of the Department of Defense, most of the organization’s operating budget comes from the sale of goods and services.
“In the event of a government shutdown, Team Exchange will remain mission-focused to support Soldiers, Airmen, Guardians and their families,” said Director/CEO Tom Shull. “The Exchange is a lifeline for the military community during hard times—and our Nation’s heroes need the benefit we are so honored to provide during challenging economic times. The team will be ready to supplement vital APF programs for Warfighters and families if needed.”
Associates’ supervisors will keep them informed of updates as they occur.
After serving for 27yrs I knew that AAFES was where I wanted to be. This organization has always been where I was stationed and deployed and could be relied upon to provide items that helped to sustain our morale. This is why I am proud to be part of an organization that continues to place the needs of America’s finest before their own needs.
Hi Justin, Thank You for your military and AAFES service!
