The Exchange and American Tattoo Society opened the eighth tattoo shop on a military installation at Fort Liberty on Dec. 19.

Fort Liberty Garrison Commander Col. John Wilcox and Garrison Command Sgt. Maj. Gregory Seymour joined Fort Liberty PX General Manager Thomas “TK” Kuttamperoor in cutting the ribbon on the shop, located in the Smoke Bomb Hill mall.

“Tattoos have a long tradition with the military, and now the Exchange is offering this service in a safety-focused environment,” Kuttamperoor said. “Soldiers and other members of the Fort Liberty community have a safe and convenient option without having to leave the base.”

During the grand opening celebration, attendees enjoyed refreshments and giveaways, as well as an opportunity for Veterans to win one of 50 free tattoos, part of an American Tattoo Society initiative to support Veterans.

i always thought our Mall could support a tattoo shop and everyone keeps telling me that the Base would never allow it. I think it’s a great idea.
