Europe, Pacific Exchanges Plan Super Bowl Activities for Overseas Military Families
Exchanges in Europe and the Pacific are ensuring that military families living overseas have the opportunity to enjoy one of the comforts of home: The Super Bowl.
“For U.S. sports fans, this is the biggest event of the year,” said Col. Don Nowlin, Europe/Southwest Asia/African Region commander. “The Super Bowl LVIII screenings and other activities provided by the Exchange are vital to the morale of service people and their families who are far from home.”
The Armed Forces Network will broadcast the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers on its TV, radio and streaming services. AFN’s broadcast will include Exchange messages including the “football toss” ad featuring Sgt. Maj. Of the Army Michael Weimer; Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force JoAnne Bass; and Chief Master Sgt. of the Space Force John Bentivegna.
Also scheduled to air is a brand benefits spot about name brands carried by the Exchange such as The Home Depot, Sunglass Hut, Bath & Body Works and more. The ads will air on AFN during pregame and during the game.
Some stores have scheduled special screenings of the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. Super Bowl fans overseas will be able to watch the game, which kicks off at 5:30 p.m. Eastern time in CONUS, in real time at their locations.
Other Exchange stores and restaurants will have game-related promotional events during the weekend.
“This is another way the Exchange represents its ‘We Go Where You Go’ motto,” said Col. Jason Beck, Pacific Region commander. “Whether overseas families are rooting for the Chiefs or the 49ers or just want to enjoy the communal spirit of watching the Super Bowl, the Exchange is bringing the game to them.”
