Personnel in Hill Air Force Base’s 309th Software Engineering Group (SWEG) now have access to quick and convenient food options thanks to a new unattended retail unit (URU).

The URU, Hill’s ninth, offers cold beverages, sandwiches, burritos, lunch and dinner entrees, microwavable breakfast, along with better-for-you options like salads, fresh fruit and vegetable cups to a previously underserved location on base. The main Exchange food court is approximately three miles from the 309th SWEG.

The unit was added to a newly renovated break room, offering more space for personnel to relax, host meetings and other special occasions.

309th SWEG Director James Diamond was joined by 309th SWEG Director of Management CJ Du’rain and Exchange Services Business Manager Bianca Williams to welcome the new space.

“We are thrilled to bring this new and easy food option to this area of Hill,” said Tammy Hairston, Hill BX general manager. “Personnel here now have more time to enjoy their meals and breaks without having to travel to the other side of the base.”

The URU is located in Building 1515 on Wardleigh Road and is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
