Three More Unattended Retail Units Open at Edwards Air Force Base
The Edwards Air Force Base Exchange welcomed three new unattended retail units (URU) to the installation in late March.
The URUs opened in Building 1600, the South Base Facility and the Air Force Test Pilot School.
The Building 1600 URU hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by 412th Maintenance Group Commander Col. Ahave Brown and 412th Maintenance Group Chief Joseph Holdcroft. Also joining were Edwards Exchange General Manager Courtney Escobedo and Services Business Manager Tiffany Duque, along with Star Vending Manager Sandy Wiebort and Vanguard Program members Melissa Albright, Robert White and Meliza Norwood.
The URUs, part of eight total now open on base, provide Airmen with convenient all-day access to meals, snacks and hot and cold beverages. Better-for-you options such as salads, wraps, fresh fruit, protein bars, breakfast burritos and more are available too.
“The new unattended retail units are another way the Edwards Exchange is adapting to the unique needs of our Airmen,” Escobedo said. “Ensuring quick and easy access to a variety of food, beverages and other products—at any day or time—is vital to taking care of our service members and other personnel on base.”
The three URUs are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
