A local favorite now has a permanent home at the Hill Air Force Base Exchange. Cupbop Korean BBQ in a Cup opened in the main BX, the restaurant’s first location on a military installation.

The grand-opening ceremony was attended by Lt. Col. Cameron Maher, 75th Security Forces commander; Junghun Song, Cupbop chief executive officer; Dok Kwon, Cupbop chief operating officer; Mike Penn, Cupbop vice president; Eleanor Veloria, Exchange main store manager; and Bianca Williams, Exchange services business manager.

“The Hill BX is thrilled to welcome one of the community’s favorite local restaurants to our food court,” General Manager Tammy Hairston said. “We’re certain Cupbop will be a popular option for everyone on base.”

Cupbop began as a single food truck in Salt Lake City in 2013 before appearing on “Shark Tank” in May 2022. All five “sharks” made offers and Cupbop has since grown to almost 50 stores in the U.S. and 165 stores internationally. The Hill BX location is one of 25 in the Salt Lake City area.
